  • If Khan Beats Canelo Will That Be The Final Nail In Mayweather's Retirement Coffin?

We know Floyd is always going to avoid Khan no matter what happens, that's quite clear from the historical record, but if Khan managed to overcome Canelo does that finalize Floyd's so-called "retirement" plan? He can't return and rematch Canelo, but he could rematch Pacquiao or weight-drain GGG down to 154, like he weight-drained Canelo to 152.

I guess options still remain on the table for him although perhaps many more people would start calling him out on ducking Khan at that point so he may be forced to permanently retire in order to avoid the inevitable backlash? Are you a previous duck-denier who'd then castigate Floyd if he unretired but swerved the Khan fight for the 4th time in a row (Pacquiao fight excluded)?

What do you think, if Khan can pull off the huge upset against the non-weight-drained version of Canelo who Floyd refused to fight, is Floyd knocked out of the game for good, final nail in the retirement coffin?

It won't really mean much since Khan has such a fragile chin that any fight post-Canelo he could get folded like a lawn chair. Khan will have to retire knowing that he was never able to beat or even get a fight with the best WW of the generation.

Prime Floyd's definitely one of the best fighters of the generation, not just WW, but Khan would have beaten the post-2013 version of Floyd 8 rounds to 4, that's why he ducked for him so many years.

He couldn't even beat Danny Garcia though...

Or you could go the conspiracy theorist route and say Haymon is greasing palms in Vegas to get Khan a decision against Canelo so that Floyd can come back and beat him for the Middleweight title for big money....

Floyd won't fight Khan because he knows he could lose the fight if Khan is on his game. Arguably Canelo and Goldenboy are doing the palm greasing, just look at the scores against Cotto for example, and a few of the Canelo fights which he could have easily lost with different judges. One judge only gave Cotto one round in the Canelo fight.. Possibly the most unashamedly corrupt scorecard ever.

It doesn't really matter though because Canelo beat Cotto pretty handily.
