Canelo's not going to make more money fighting Golovkin than he made fighting Cotto, for the simple fact that Golovkin isn't a bigger fight than Cotto and Golovkin and his camp are apparently asking for more than $10m to even step into the ring.

    Alvarez-Golovkin is not Oscar-Floyd, it's not Floyd-Alvarez, and it's not Floyd-Manny; it may not even be Cotto-Alvarez.

Alvarez-Golovkin, at the most wildest projection, is a $75m in revenue fight ($10m site fee from JerryLand, $55m on PPV, $10m from everything else).

That's $40m for the fighters to share, with Golovkin expecting to be paid more than $10m for the fight.

Can Alvarez make more than $25m for another fight? Most definitely; Saunders/EubankJr/Daniel Jacobs at 160, and Cotto/Margarito at 154, among other fights, could all comfortably put that much money in Alvarez's pocket.

Does Golovkin have a single fight anywhere on the planet where, without Alvarez, he can get $10m.

the simple answer is no, he does not.

But your projections are only good for laughs. Remember you projecting 40m for Pac max, that flat fee was a great offer. That's why there's revenue sharing, you can have idiots missing estimates by 300% or whatnot.

The simple fact that Golovkin seems to be eyeing something at least near $15m, drastically limits the kind of money that Alvarez can make on the matchup whenever it happens.

Because, let's be clear here; $15m to Golovkin and $15m to Alvarez would necessitate the event having to do nearly $70m in revenue to cover everything ($10m as the site fee, $60m on PPV), a projection that already tops the business that Cotto-Alvarez did.

The fight could literally do the numbers that ODLH-Mayweather did and Alvarez, after paying Golovkin a purse (after he's already rejected $10m), still wouldn't make $50m.

        get over yourself

He's already fought cotto, won't make quarter of the money he made from the first fight, you say there isn't a fight on the planet where GGG will make that money, that's a double edge sword, the exact same senario goes for canelo, but wait, there's more, as each fight passes, GGG gets more popular, as each day passes, canelos popularity plummets due to his avoidance of the fight, his numbers PROVE that, that's the reason GBP want to sign the fight now, a year out for a cheap price, because they can see, just like most can that GGG is getting more and more popular, it seems that you are one of the few that can't see the value in this fight

        • 60 40 with ppv percentage seems fair.

Pacquiao is still fighting, publicly saying that he still needs to fight to support his family, after he apparently took home a fortune on the Pacquiao fight.

Let that sink in for a minute; if you honestly think that Pacquiao made a fortune on the Mayweather fight, why is he still fighting, especially in a nothing fight that no one even wants?

Arum can say whatever he wants; Pacquiao's actions say he's full of ****

Pretty sure that Pac gives all his money away and otherwise squanders it....

Golovkin-Jacobs is seemingly being negotiated for December 10th (possibly for PPV, based on the fact HBO seems to have paired a fight card for the replay the following week).

Alvarez-Cotto II, for the WBO 154 belt, on Cinco De Mayo weekend (assuming that Cotto looks good in his Jan/Feb return fight) still does at least $50m on PPV, another $10m at the gate, and the extra revenues.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez put over 50k people into AT&T Stadium (where the cheepest ticket was $40) and you're arguing that Alvarez's popularity has plummeted? gtfoh

60-40 is GGG pricing himself out. 80-20 seems more logical based on PPV history and overall fanbase.
