I'm not going to discuss god's nature seriously, until you give me evidence of it's existence. He asked me "Do you understand god?", it's a loaded question to say the least.

The topic of this thread is "Can anyone knowledgeable in the Bible confirm this." We are not talking about god's nature, rather the nature of the character in the bible that you call god. If you are going to ask me about "god", then you need to show me evidence this being exists.

When you try and justify the god in the Bible, I have nothing else to go on but the Bible. When we quote the Bible, you say (like all the other Christians) we don't understand it, we don't get it, it's being taken out of context etc...

Not at all, what I'm saying is that I'm understanding the character that is written in the Bible, because that's all we have to go on when it comes to the Christian god.

See, Christians say that they don't worship a book, but you do. Because if the Bible didn't exist, then you wouldn't have a god to worship. The idea of Jesus as divine, came from the Bible (even though Muslims would argue that point but that's another argument).

When you ask me if I understand god, it's a loaded question. If you ask me if I understand the god of the Hebrew Bible, then yes, I believe I do. I'm not a Biblical scholar, but you don't have to be to get the general outline of the concept of Christianity.

I do fine in real life. My wife must think I'm ok, she hasn't left me. My job must think the same, I've been here almost 20 years now. My friends I've had in some cases for decades must like me too. Go figure.

I do not believe in a god. Do you understand what that means? It doesn't mean I'm angry at god, it doesn't mean something horrible happened to me and I rejected god, it means I don't believe he/she/it exists.

So when you ask me about the nature of god, it's a nonsensical question to me. What part of that do you not understand.

So coming at this from a non believers point of view, you do worship a book because there is no god behind that book.

Let me ask you this question and hopefully (not likely) you will answer it.

If there wasn't a Bible, would you be worshiping the Christian god? If so, please explain where you would get this understanding of the Christian god if not in the Bible?
