  • Comments Thread For: Tua vs King Clash is Set For March 19 in New Zealand

According to New Zealand's Stuff Sport, Heavyweight David Tua (51-3-2, 43 KOs) is set to face Demetrice King (15-19, 13 KOs) on March 19, with the mindset of getting revenge for a last July's draw with Monte Barrett. Tua claims that he injured his rotator cuff while training for that fight and it kept him out of action for remainder of the year. The fight with King takes place in South Auckland on March 19, which has been dubbed the "backyard brawl." King lost back to back fights to Tor Hamer and Fres Oquendo.

True shoulder injuries are operable, he lost to Barrett and that's that, no reason to make fake injuries that just miraculously heal on their own.

Tua has never held a belt and never will, kind of like Golota.

I hope King reads contract carefully unlike Barrett who was fighting back. You supposed to lose to Tua in front of his tribemen.

tua-barrett wasn't in new zealand or even samoa.

            so i don't get what you're saying.

if anything barrett is from new york and the fight was in new jersey.

closer to fighting in front of barrett's people.

              Pointless fight for Tua.

He should either fight a bona fide contender, or retire.

King has a poor record and is crude and slow, but he punches very hard. I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset here, with Tua being stopped for the first time.

                tua needs money.

he's not a contender anymore. he's practically shot.

King is gonna beat the **** out of Tua. There isn't a better area for boxers than Michigan.

                    This one is not interesting.
Tua vs. Boytsov would be an interesting fight.
