The Klitschko's are like Free Market Capitalists

Let me infuse some political/economical terms and if the Mods find that this isn't proper for the NSB, then please move it to the Lounge.


The Klitschko's have a Monopoly on the Heavyweight Division and have crushed the competition, John D. Rockerfeller style. They're the embodiment of success in Laissez-faire. No Anti-Trust Laws needed here folks. They have wiped out the opposition like they are Standard Oil company. Unlike other era's of days past where things were much more competitive, and the wealth (greatness) was spread around to everyone, Socialism Style... that Carl Marx would be proud of...to give the false appearance that there was a bigger abundance of great fighters in the Heavyweight division then there is today.

Some are calling for a sports equivalent to the Anti-Trust Laws in breaking up the Monopoly and either have one Klitschko retire, or create a special Super-Heavyweight division, or fight each other in their own mutual self-destruction. To this I say NO.

Embrace Free Market Capitalism and embrace the Klitschko's. As per Free Market principles, they are giving you a better product at a cheaper price. They fight every few months on regular, Non-PPV Television against top rated contenders. As opposed to someone else we know by the name of Mike Tyson, who fought once every few years for the over-inflated price of 49.99 of your hard earned money, with a 1st round KO drubbing of some common peasant or Union Laborer. It's time we end this.

This goes double for the Klitschko's since they're brothers, after all. Nobody expects them to compete. They may even make decisions together, which is even more troubling. So yes, they have created a monopoly, yippie, maybe an oligopoly if they are indeed colluding. Two of the classic flaws of capitalism.

There is no regulatory agency in boxing; and, we certainly don't expect the sanctioning bodies to enforce their rules; the masses certainly aren't going to hold two brothers accountable, so what are we left with? As you described, the free market, laissez-faire capitalism that many seem to idealize. But is it good for the rest of us?

I mean, it's worked out great - I never hear people complaining about the heavyweight division and it's flourishing over the past couple of years under these great economic tenets. Look at the free market in the heavyweight division go!!!

I suppose it has spoken: the largest consumer class in the world, the USA, ain't buying what they're selling, there are no consumers for that product here and there might not ever be any in the future. It's nothing new for unchecked capitalism, it sucks every penny imaginable out of whatever consumer class there is and moves onto to the next society and leaches itself onto them until they're sucked dry as well.

I don't know why you're making the connection, I like the Klitschko's and think they would be more inclined to follow just a bit of regulation if they knew it would be for the betterment of the division and boxing.
