  • Has any fighter in history jumped up 2 weight classes after being the Undisputed.....

.........champ in a division having been involved in a lineal title fight to then immediately become the universally recognised number 1 in another division the very next bout like Hopkins did after beating Tarver???

i know sugar ray robinson tried but heat exhaustion forced him to quit. (of course super middleweight division wasnt around then but it would have been 2 weight classes if todays divisions existed then)

Duran did it against Leonard. It's pretty rare though.

I feel wrong to do this, particularly mentioning alongside Duran, but Calzaghe also did it.

Calzaghe didnt move up 2 weight classes.

Duran's last fight at 135 was in Februrary 1978. The Leonard fight was in June 1980. He had numerous fights in between, including a fight against a top WW in Carlos Palomino.

            I edited OP.

Ahhh right. Of course. I was just thinking anyone moving up and doing it.

So two divisions, lineal champ in back to back fights? Yeah, very rare.

Even Mosley had a couple of fights in between.
