Martinez would have been embarrassed and probably stopped by the same Hopkins that beat Tito.

If Martinez got knocked down by a lucky shot by Chavez Jr., just imagine what a prime Hopkins would do to him....

God you guys are dumb. This thread offends every bone in my body. How can you have so many moronic people in one place (NSB)

So you are telling me that Sergio Martinez, who is not even a true middleweight would beat one of the greatest middleweights of all time. Bernard Hopkins was a complete phenom. As people have already pointed out, Sergio Martinez had difficulties with Barker and Macklin. Prime Hopkins would have made mince meat of this guy, Sergio is a very good fighter, but he is soft, everyone in boxing circles knows it. Martinez would not have lasted 9 rounds, he would have got broken down and once the fight had been knocked out of him, he would get taken out Tito style.

I have to be honest, I think a prime Oscar at 154 against Martinez is a pick em. So how anyone could pick him over BHOP is beyond me. Why are some of you so ****, honestly spend a year away from here, really learn about boxing and then come back a true knowledgeable boxing fan.

So the first half might be in favor to Martinez, but in the long run, I think Hopkins will edge a win.
A couple punches on the hip on whatever side the ref isnt..lol. Love Hops man. Hed beat up Serg bad.

Good post. People are unbelievable on NSB. Like I said the other day Martinez is good...right now....in this era. but compared to the great middleweights he's nothing. His best win at 160 is Pavlik then it's like, hmmm, Mackin? Williams (not really a true middleweight)? Whack ass Chavez?

but of course, no comparison between sergio & jones!

Benard Hopkins was a lefty specialist back in the day

your definition of schooled must be different from everyone else. honestly martinez loses to that version of Taylor.

I was wondering that myself. If by "schooled" he means eeking out a close decision then yeah Jermain schooled Hopkins.
