  • Team Stevens (Kathy Duva) has received a Golovkin offer

    So.....
    http://******.craveonline.com/blog/1...fer-to-stevens
Main Events President, Kathy Duva, promoter for middleweight standout, Curtis "Showtime" Stevens, said that she is considering an offer from Tom Loeffler, of K2 Promotions, which handles WBA 160-pound titleholder Gennady Golovkin.

"The offer came in late last night," said Duva. "We're talking among ourselves this weekend and I'm going to get back to him next week."

Stevens (25-3, 18 knockouts) caught Loeffler's attention by calling out Golovkin (27-0, 24 KOs) 10 days prior to his first-round stoppage of Saul Roman.

"Stevens was vocal before the fight," said Loeffler, who added Stevens "might get his wish" to challenge Golovkin on Nov. 2 on HBO. "We've made an offer to Stevens but we haven't gotten anything finalized."

Stevens had said that Golovkin would be the most enticing of the division's beltholders, targeting him over RING and WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez as well as IBF and WBO counterparts Daniel Geale and Peter Quillin. Geale has a defense against Darren Barker on Aug. 17.

"Geale is fighting against Barker next week and the winner of that has a mandatory against Felix Sturm," said Loeffler. "Martinez is [not ready to name an opponent] so we're definitely going to talk to HBO about who is the best person we can get into the ring."

Against Roman, Stevens came up with his fourth-straight win, three of which have been first-round KOs, while Golovkin scored his 14th-straight knockout in June against Matthew Macklin.

Stevens is 4-0 with three first-round knockouts since falling to super middleweight Jesse Brinkley by unanimous decision in January of 2010. He rebounded with a first-round stoppage of Romaro Johnson in March of 2012 before coming up with January's 70-second knockout of Elvin Ayala.

Stevens signed with Main Events in February before earning an eight-round unanimous decision over Derrick Findley in April.
    Sounds like they're abandoning Geale/Barker.
First off, who cares if he has a mando against Sturm, Sturm didn't defend against his Mando... you know who.
Also unification takes priority over mandos.... so wtf?

At least freaking wait for next week to end

Maybe they think Duva will turn it down and are calling Stevens's bluff. They should not consider Stevens without waiting to offer a fight to the Geale/Barker winner, no matter how much this guy calls him out.

All this mandatory thing is bull****. I don't know who Stevens is until he called Golovkin out but I see he has power. Is this a worthy fight for Golovkin? In my opinion Loeffler should have waited for Barker/Geale winner.

I agree with the bluff statement.
While the promoter and Coach of steven's are calling him out and talking trash, they know he's not ready and have stated that several times.
Guess they're calling them out now.
Can't say the money's right because what has Steven's been making?

One November date in MSG and then he's fighting on the Monaco cruiserweight card in December

I can't imagine this fight being anything more then a "stay busy" fight if ggg fights stevens. just a fight with a solid opponent to keep him sharp for a big fight at the end of the year/early next year.

GGG is a man, seems like anyone calling him out he will accept.

Yea, that's why I hoped for it to be in December, but since he's a Brooklyn cat, the venue makes sense.
Seems like a waste of an HBO date... but a stunning KO will make people excited
