      FUN FACT:

A former standout Canadian football player turned the face of one of the top 5 Heavyweigts Europe ever produced, into a bloody menstruating vagina in a mere 6 rounds, while being overweight, and past his prime.

Anybody want to guess who this is???
American Football is gaining popularity in quite a few Scandinavian countries as well (Division 1 schools are even recruiting players out of Scandinavia). NFL is the 3rd most popular sport in Mexico as well. NFL plays a game at the Azteca, sellout and the house is rocking. NFL plays at Wembley also an instant sellout.

England couldn't even beat America at soccer in the last World Cup...how pathetic is that? A country that worships soccer and thinks they're really good at it (even though England seems to consistently be a joke on the international scene) couldn't even beat a country that doesn't even give a crap about the sport.

Sure china can and will win out every once inawhile. Big whoop. Check the last 90 years. I noticed you havent recognized the other 7 crappy miscojceptions you've been spreading.
The investment China is putting into sport will increase, while America is pulling it's funding. Home advantage clearly played it's part though.

90 year? Exactly that's the past.

Obviously if a country has more people their chance improve to produce more world champions.

Whatever the reasons are, the NBA and NFL excuse does not fly and even if it takes some potential fighters away, it is the same for every country that has sports that are vastly more popular in there country.

Maybe that why they don't have any top heavyweight contenders

Don't follow the game, but power seems favorable to speed.

Does the training consist of more weights or plyometrics ?

I think that has to do with the average size of Mexicans.

Really though, what is the point in my debating with the "jabs don't count in boxing" guy? You've proven time and time again to be nothing but a troll and an idiotic one who hardly follows the sport at that.

What does chinese investment into sport in the future have to do with anything?

Here is just a snip of Ray Lewis' workout routine.

Baltimore Ravens' linebacker Ray Lewis entered the NFL in 1996 and has remained one of the top players in the league ever since. His prolonged stay at the top of the league holds significance because he attributes much of his success to the workout plan that he follows. By following Lewis' workout regimen, younger players can keep themselves in great shape year-round.

                    Rest

Ray Lewis believes that one of the most important aspects of an exercise routine remains giving yourself enough time to rest. In an interview with NFL.com, Lewis states that he always gets at least 10 hours of sleep per night and sometimes sleeps for as long as 14 hours. Lewis believes that this additional rest led to his positive results, since it allows his body to heal properly.

                    Workouts

Since Lewis sleeps for such a long of time, he does his traditional workouts in the evening. He does this to allow himself to do other things during the day, such as go swimming and kickboxing. Lewis describes this as a creative workout, which prevents him from becoming bored when falling into a workout routine. Lewis still exercises for between eight and 10 hours per day, but much of this comes in the form of his creative workout.

                    Card Workout

In an interview with "Men's Journal," Lewis describes his younger days when he would take a deck of cards and flip up the top card. If he flipped the number nine, Lewis would do nine pushups or situps and he would repeat this routine throughout the day. He still uses this technique to this day, although he now uses three decks of cards at a time.

                    Sand Sprints

During the off-season, Lewis goes to the beach wearing a 45-pound weight vest and repeatedly runs 20-yards in the sand. This begins his workout routine, which will last 90 minutes. He will complete three of these routines over the course of the day, in addition to his creative workouts.

                    Machine Training

Unlike many NFL players, Lewis does not believe in going to one of the numerous high tech sports training facilities that exist in the United States. He states in "Men's Fitness" magazine that these machines might help improve measurable speed and strength numbers, but they will not necessarily make him a better football player. Lewis credits his old-fashioned training methods with helping to keep him in the league so long because they increase his drive to compete.

That guy is 250 lbs of essentially nothing but fast twitch muscle. I'm fairly certain 99% of the heavyweight division would drop dead from a heart attack from just those exercises listed. 90 minutes of 20 yard sprints in sand while wearing a 45 pound vest...three times a day...

                    • Wait now we talking all boxing and not just heavyweights~

The American boxing scene is going pretty good really sans heavyweight, because there isn't as much of a limiting factor as big athleticly talented men. For little guys boxing is still a decent choice because those athletes aren't in as much demand in other areas.

America never had a total stranglehold on the sport which is the same as it is now, it is a bit different than in the past where American's had a lot of good heavies and a few guys spread across the smaller classes, now the smaller classes is where the American talent is with no one at heavy~ times change
