His other recent fights have done Friday night fight numbers exactly because he's been fighting on Friday and in one case Wednesday. And like you said, numbers would have been much higher if he fought on HBO, but I guess he'll have to settle for being the second highest ratings draw on Showtime this year.
On July 9, HBO had a double-header with Paul Williams vs Erislandy Lara in the main event. At 10:16 there were 644,000 viewers; at 10:25 there were 789,000 viewers; and at 10:52 there were 940,000 viewers. That rounds out to an average of 791,000 viewers for the night. There's a reason besides the robbery of Lara that you never heard much more about that show from HBO.
The bout marked the stateside debut for Lemieux, which registered well with the home audience as an average of 908,000 viewers tuned in for the main event.
The fight–which also marked Lemieux’s first appearance on HBO—peaked at more than 1.16 million viewers.

Thats pretty bad, but what do you expect its Showtime.
Showtime is just not that great of a channel when trying to pull in viewers. Its boxing which most of the time is very basic, their channel has no good programming.

Not to mention all the ratings were higher in 2011, and PWill was bringing all the viewers.
After being provided the numbers from Nielsen...
July 9, 2011: “HBO Boxing After Dark” (Paul Williams vs. Erislandy Lara) averaged 1.1 million viewers (P2+ ) watching Live + Same Day
Your Leimux number was also live + same day. That's the "average" number you always hear in stories. You're not comparing apples to apple.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 08-03-2016, 06:07 PM.

Nobody cares but you nerds. Viewership has never changed the sport of boxing. I've seen all of the excuses as to why it matters, but really, it doesn't.
