  • Espinoza pulls Arum from Lomachenko/Russel Jr conference call

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/cold-wa...iacontentstory

On Tuesday morning, however, Arum said he was yanked from the call at the request of Espinoza. Golden Boy is the lead promoter of the fight, but it is common boxing practice for all promoters to participate in media events such as conference calls when the fighters involved are with more than one promotional company.
"It's just [expletive] stupid," Arum said. "Can you believe this?"

In a statement to Yahoo Sports, Espinoza denied yanking Arum.

"Neither Bob Arum, nor Stephen Espinoza were scheduled to be on [Tuesday's] media conference call," the Showtime statement read. "The June 21 Showtime Championship Boxing event is promoted by Golden Boy and, collectively with Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, we agreed that this was not a platform on which any other promotional outfit belongs. This call is about the fighters on this card that are preparing for important, and competitive fights."
Was there a conference call for Vanes/Lara?

    Espinoza is ruining the sport.

Al haymon has to release fighters anyway because Showtime doesn't have enough dates for his fighters.

This Espinoza guy is not fit for this job. His TBA investment failed. Non-PPV fights have become rare. Subscribers are not happy with this clown.

            OUch... read the last part

If a purse bid, the promoter for the side that doesn't win the purse bid is accorded a full recognition, not necessarily in decision making.

Arum can talk up a fight too. He doesn't go over the top like Schaefer and doesn't spew regurgitated rhetoric like de la hoya. Having him on the call would be beneficial for Showtime.

That is kind of stupid because Arum would be good promoting the fight, although such a thing could make him angry which kind of ends up in the same place.
