I have strong punches when thrown in combos so says my trainer, like jab, right, jab, but when I do a double jab my second jab always feels weak and jars my arm. Any advice on how to get the same power and technique on the second jab would be appreciated

Double jab help

The double jab is a good weapon and helps set up your other punches. The best way, I find, to throw it is to fire out the first jab bringing it back to defensive posture and then firing the second one out. It's easy really you just gotta practice it shadow boxing; hitting the heavy bag; hitting the double end bag. Focus on technique at first and then you can practice the speed and power

You can't otherwise it would be two jabs not a double jab. I was always taught to only bring the first jab back half way before firing the second. So really a double jab is like a jab and a half not two jabs with full technique.
If your jabs are being timed and avoided or blocked then the double is a good way to set up a cross by just getting some leather in their face first. its not about achieving maximum power on both, if it was you'd likely never land either the first or the second jab.
Having said that, footwork is key to everything. It depends on what you are trying to do with the double jab at the time. If your closing distance then you push off the back foot with the second jab and land the front foot intime with your punch connection. If your stationary, say in the pocket or your opponent is trapped in the corner then you twist your front hip/foot clockwise in time with the punch to get that snap to it and your weight into the jab without leaning in, this also increases the range of the jab.
Good luck.
