hindi ko napanood yang game na yan pero kung nakagawa ng magandang play ang coach at tied pa ang laban and 10 seconds to go, tamang play is to play the clock ang go for the last shot pag shoot panalo, pag sumablay OT...

kung walang time out at walang play alam na dapat ng mga players kung ano ang role nila, kung sino ang first, 2nd o third option nila to score ...

yung ke hontiveros kung pumasok tira nya it was a GOOD move kaso sumablay kaya it turn out to be a BAD move and should have play the clock for a higher percentage shot... slim difference between hero of the game and goat...
yeah korek pare... hontiveros, is a two in 1 package actually, he's an offensive threat that can play good perimeter defense.

HOntiveros has been a shooter in his entire basketball career...every shooter kasi pare may parang batas na sinusunod yan eh.. once ur open u should take the shot there's no such thing as a bad shot when ur open. its an unwritten rule in basketball yan pre.. and one more thing, statistically wise pare which has the higher percentage of winning??? playing the clock or taking the open shot??

he he tol yung "bad shot" when your OPEN is when you MISS the shot ... its a big no no, lalo pa game deciding shot...

agree ako sa shooters code na to take the shot when open at tama lang yung shooters mentality ng mga players natin, in fact dapat lahat ng players sa loob should have that mentality, alam naman nila kung anong tira kaya nila at one of them has to take that shot...

dying seconds of a tied ball game, kailangan maishoot mo na kaagad a bola and go back quickly in defense, tingin ko statistically 50-50 yung winning percentage ng taking the open shot at playing the clock...

what will you do pare if you had the ball... 10 seconds to go the ballgame is tied and then you had an open shot??
Well, all is not wrong with Hontiveros per se. All I am saying is as a whole, Yap & Ritualo proved to be more steady & valuable contribution to the team than Dondon based on the Jones Cup performance, so why put these guys at the last spot? As for the Lebanon boo-boo, it wasn't about making or missing the shot. It's about when to take the shot. Before that shot, the Lebanese overcame a six point lead in matter of seconds because their 3 point shots were suddenly falling. So to take a hurried shot (open shot, yes, but too hurried he took it like a turn around shot at the 3 point line) and give the other team a full 7 seconds to shoot is unforgivable samantalang tabla-panalo dapat ang sitwasyon. Ang nangyari, talo! And when lightning struck twice vs Japan just the following day, it was Dondon again who made the last second booboo when he made a poor pass that was intercepted and converted into a basket by Japan with no time left. He is good but he melts down when games are close, which will be the way in Japan for sure. He surely makes me nervous down the stretch more than anybody else in that team. Consider the ESPN sportscaster's unbiased remark in the end game vs Korea (i think), which also went down the wire, and when Dondon was melting down again. He said (more or less)" coach Reyes should take him out now before strange things happen again!" And when Chot took him out, he said that's the right move, and guess what, we won!

The end game booboo vs Lebanon wasnt about statistics, it was about playing it smart. And Im sorry but what Dondon did there was not the smartest of things, he hehe!
