  • Punching Pads Style?

Hey guys i want to know why Floyd Mayweather Jr is really accurate and when he punches pads he doesnt extend his arm fully which doesnt make his pad work realistic its like Roger Mayweather is geting more tired than Floyd on pads coz he does all the work, then for example someone like Manny Pacquaio punches pads with Freddie Roach and Freddie holds pads near his face which is realistic and Manny hasnt got the accuracy of Floyd.

Does Floyd do other things to get that accurate?

Pacquiao's pad routine builds more power because of the extension. Same for JMM.

Floyds pad work is not what gives him the accuracy he has if that same old lame routine is all he does. Its him on the speed bag and the double end bag.

Pad work in general the person holding the pads is actually getting a better workout than the fighter because they have to be 1 step ahead.

In both cases the trainer is doing more work than the fighter, but there are different types of pad routines.

In Floyd's case most of the time they only work the pads to show off. They make it seem like the padwork is complex when really it's repetition and pretty much grown man patty cake. Hence why almost everytime you see floyd hit the mitts it's always the same pattern and Floyd can do it without looking. Because it's the same pattern that he's used since age 16 or probably younger.

In Pac's case...which is why Floyd Sr thinks Pac is sloppy with little technique even though i've seen floyd jr do it a few times as well is hit the pads to work on handspeed and endurance. not much intelligence involved....just hit the mitts as many times as possible within the time limit to get accustomed to throwing alot of punches without getting tired.

The most common use for padwork however is target recognition. Trainer shows an opening. The idea is for the fighter to be able to position himself properly to take advantage of any and all openings within the short window it's available before the opponent resets and counterattacks.

floyd does much more routines with the padwork than you guys think---it's not just the same old stuff--wath how he counters jabs and blocks roger's punches to the body and then counters off of the block---watch how he dips and dodges punches off of the ropes when roger has him on the rope---he does have the middle of the ring padwork routine in his training constantly to work on endurance, technique of his hooks and crosses, but he does a lot of things with the mitts---his padwork routine is very complex--because how he moves with roger and other things---

            Mayweather Jr Punching Pads

ok so he just does the routine on pads for like combo's and fitness and then speedball/floor-ceiling for accuracy
