Brook wasn't GGG's first choice of opponents. First he tried to fight middleweight champion Saunders and then middleweight contender Eubank and they both turned down big money offers and refused to fight. GGG makes his living fighting and he has to fight somebody he can make good money with. Brook was the best good paying opponent and the only guy with the balls to sign the contract.

Because it's exactly the same thing. There have been dozens of fights between a larger champion and a smaller champion and they have always been considered reasonable and acceptable fights and nobody cried and b*tched about those fights. Robinson only moved up from 160 once and he lost to light heavyweight champion Joey Maxim. Does that make Maxim pathetic for dragging poor Ray Robinson up to his weight. You're desperate to trash GGG as are the other GGG haters. At least you don't call him lil g so you aren't as bad as some. You are going to trash any fight GGG has unless he fights some guy in a heavier weight class you think can beat him. You desperately want him to lose. Old time greats Hagler and Monzon were content to rule 160 and never moved up an ounce. Why does GGG has to do something they never did to prove himself? If he stays at 160 and kicks ass until the day he retires I'm fine with that.

Usually when fighters move up in weight it's because they have trouble staying at the weight they are at and you know this. Robinson didn't move up from welterweight because he wanted harder fights with bigger men but because he had outgrown welterweight. Robinson turned pro at a young age and fought at 147 for years until he couldn't comfortably make 147. GGG turned pro at an old age and was completely grown and still makes 160 with ease. The only reason you want him to move up in weight is in hopes that bigger men might beat him since no middleweight can.

Boxing is a business. They're making smart business decisions.

Oh and Hagler's biggest win before Hearns was Duran(one of the greatest lightweights of all time imo). That's how it works with most MWs.

                its a **** fcking point.

carrying the middleweight championship belt is greater than carrying the 154lb belt.

being a middleweight champion that GGG is.>>>>> Caneloweight.

It means something to be a middlweight champion.

Its arguably the greatest division in the history of boxing.

147 to 160 is the natural original state of prize fighting.

I think Canelo is doing the right thing slowly moving up to 160.
He's going down to 154 to pick up an easy title to add to his resume.
I think he fights Billy Joe Saunders in December at 157, Lemieux next May at 160 and the GGG fight happens in September 2017 at 160.
Not sure what the hell GGG is doing right now though. He can't even get Brook to come to the US. He has 3 middleweight titles (2 he didn't fight for) and he has to go across the pond to fight a welterweight with one decent win on his resume. That is weird.
