Taylors downward spiral after this fight says it all
Now you're just repeating the bull**** myth that Chavez "ruined" Taylor. The same myth you most likely picked up from "Legendary Nights".

According to Taylor himself, he was struggling with making 140lbs before the first Chavez fight. Whether or not that's an excuse, who really knows. What we do know is that after the beating from Chavez, Taylor immediately moved up to welterweight where he defeated a fairly solid opponet in Primo Ramos as a stepping stone for Aaron Davis, whom he soundly outpointed for the WBA title.

After that, Taylor had 3 more fights, two of which were defenses of his newly earned welterweight strap, and one of which was against another solid contender in Glenwood Brown who dropped Taylor twice, and later became a titleholder in the Middleweight division.

Then came the KO at the hands of Terry Norris, and the rest is pretty much history.

Point being : Taylor's career was not "ruined" by Julio Cesar Chavez.

Agreed. Margarito's chin absorbed everything Cotto had, both physically and mentally.

you are wrong, taylor chin did hold up. about everything else folded but his chin held up.

he showed over the course of 12 rounds he could take chavez' best punch to the jaw, he took flush shots upstairs over and over again and shook it off.

he couldnt shake off the bodyshots though, bodyshots that broke him down in the ring and had him urinating blood for days after the fight. his face didnt hold up either and he swallowed tons of blood during the fight. and finally his gas tank didnt hold up either, chavez put tremndous pressure on him which is what broke him more than anything. taylor was forced to constantly move his feet and hands to kepp chavez off him and got tired down the stretch.

however his chin held up well, only when he had nothing left from the bodywork, pressure and damage done to his face was chavez able to knock him out. and even then he was unable to literally knock him out, he was still only able to put taylor on the floor for 6 seconds and the ref stopped it not bcuz he was out on his feet or nothing but bcuz of the prolonged beating he took.

Corrales/Freitas comes to mind. Corrales was getting hit with a lot of good shots until he cut the ring off Freitas and put in work.

I honestly think Hagler/Hearns had more with Hagler throwing low blows than his chin.
