  • What was the main reason Tyson Fury was able to beat Wladimir Klitschko?

Was it primarily due to Fury's superior boxing ability or Klitschko's age?

Beacause Fury is the superior boxer, and would have beaten any version of Klitschko
    38.05%

Because Wlad is nearly 40 and isn't as fast now, peak Wlad would beat Fury
    30.09%

Both - Fury is very good, but Wlad's age was also a factor
    31.86%

The feints, head movement took away Wlads jab.

For a big goofy looking guy, Fury can move really well.

Footwork, feints, head movement, ring IQ, size, speed, and blistering sledgehammers. Look at Wlad's face. Fury treated him like a child.

Klitschko is shot. It wasn't like he was missing his punches. He simply could not pull the trigger. Fury deserves credit for having confidence and a game plan. But I'd have a difficult time picking Wladimir against any legitimate contender now. He looked like just another old washed up heavyweight.

Wladimir looked old out there, as he also did against Jennings, but not nearly as bad as against Fury. He hesitated when he usually would throw in certain situations, but worse he wasn't hungry at all. He looked like a gateway keeper who came for the paycheck instead of the heavyweight champion. Piss poor performance by Wlad, and when he finally turned up the heat, which was way too late in the 12th round he had success. In a rematch I give Wlad a 50/50, he clearly has the superior boxing skills and power, but they're useless if he doesn't utilize them or maybe at this age he is unable to, who knows.

            Yes.

I've watched all his fights several times, and his handspeed is not nearly as fast now as it was several years ago.

2000 Chris Byrd had better movement than Fury, but Wlad was able to land.

              Fury broke him down mentally?

Wlad was utterly paralyzed by movement, he couldn't find the range to hit his target, and given he's a conservative fellow he chose to take no chances in lieu of miracles. The reality is sometimes people lose, it isn't always because of father time or bad waffles, it just happens because the opponent is better at the time. And sometimes as a result boxing fans want to find reasons why people lose, They choose to be polarizing on the way, and argue themselves to a comfortable peace, to a state of mind nicely contrived and free of consequence.

The honest and not to be questioned Boxrec had Wlad as their P4P #1.

Surely because of that, age has no bearing on the result of last nights fight.

No, those rankings are based on past performances.

How Wladimir looked on Saturday was not factored in at that time.
