stupid, because boxing and MMA are completely different. In boxing, if you turn pro at 19/20/21 it's important to get experience and slowly work your way up. Matchmaking is an art form for these young guys, you have to get the right opponents and the right skills, right kind of tests at the right times. It isn't as necessary in MMA.
If you suck and you fight 20 bums, you'll get exposed and it will hurt your career, not help it.. Just look at Tyrone Harris or Biggums whatever the hell that guy was with all those first round ko's.

How many rounds is there in most mma fights? 3 all the way through from prospect to contender, up until a title fight where it's at 5.
Now how many rounds are there in boxing fights? From 4-12. That's why you see fighters going from 4 to 6 to 8 to 10 to 12, it's a process.
But I would increase the terrible level of opposition being faced by prospects. If you have more than 100 amateur fights, you should not be facing anyone with a losing record.
