  • Is Mosley vs Mayweather for the Lineal Title

Is the Mayweather vs Mosley fight for the Lineal Championship? I believe Mosley currently has the lineal championship but it's so confusing I'm not so sure anymore.

No he is not the lineal champ.

Pac is the #1 ranked WW.

So Floyd who is the #3 guy vs Shane who is ranked #2. Will be for the WBA title only. For the winner to get the lineal title they would have to beat Pac.

No. Ring ranks Pac #1 at 147 presently. Ring box offs must be 1 vs 2 or 1 vs 3.

Fighters recognized as champions by The Ring are rated at the top of their division, with the top 10 contenders listed below.

Championship vacancies can be filled by winning a box-off between The Ring's number-one and number-two contenders, or, in certain instances, a box-off between our number-one and number-three contenders.

The only three occasions when a fighter will lose his championship status are when he retires, moves to another weight division, or is defeated in a championship bout.

The Ring Ratings are compiled by the magazine's editorial board, with the participation of The Ring Ratings Panel of boxing journalists from around the world.

I think they are waiting for Pacquiao v Mayweather/Mosley to restart the lineage.

Ring champs are not always lineal champs. Sometimes the ring title can be vacant but there is a lineal champ.
