Suliman is totally right they need a real WBC champ at 147. Just like at 160 when the true champion sergio martinez had the belt and then was stripped and given to Chavez.
this guy is corrupt as ****. If that was the case with guerrero why not order the fight? its because he'll let Floyd keep the wbc belt no matter what because he wants the 3% from Floyds fights. this is no dig on Floyd but its amazing how these sanctioning bodies bend the rules to allow the top fighters with the big purses to keep their belts almost indefinitely then strip lower level belt holders without backing an eye lid

I see a visual of $$$$ signs floating around Sulaiman as he talks about belts, unifying, interim champs, supporting WBC fights after WBC fights..etc..
It's all rubbish...he just see's two money making opportunities to collect major sanctioning fees from a Mayweather/Canelo based year...he doesn't really care about any integrity of the sport...or else they wouldn't bother with all of this interim champion nonsense
People actually think Robert is a welterweight champion...Berto held the WBC title from 2008 to 2011 where he lost it to Ortiz. Ortiz lost it to Mayweather. Berto goes on to win the IBF title...then all of a sudden Robert and Berto are fighting for some newly created interim WBC title to ensure that Sulaiman is guaranteed sanctioning fees by all involved parties?
Then after Berto wins the IBF title, all of a sudden Mike Jones is the IBF champion, loses to Bailey, who loses it to Devon. These titles are like hot cakes. You don't even have to win or lose them in the ring anymore.
Why would Floyd fight Canelo at a catchweight when he just fought at 154 last year
That's his way of saying "Hey, just in case there is an issue with weight, they can fight at a catch weight to ensure the fight happens and I get my sanctioning fees for the megafight" or "We know Mayweather likes the WBC title, so anything that will help him love our title even more and pay us our fees, we will do."
I say screw the catch weights. If you're going to have a fight for the 154lb title, let the limit be 154. If it's for a welterweight title, let the limit be 147. No fighter, just because they are big or small, should be cut slack in regards to weight. The whole purpose of a fighter moving up or down to challenge a champion in his division is to do it by the rules of his division. That's what makes it more compelling without an asterisk on the record.
