People of this era cannot see the greatness in Mayweather because he is hated so much , searching for everything negative they cannot see whats positive .

2 things Floyd is never given credit for .

    1) Toughness , Floyd is no coward and can hang with anyone in the trenches when he has to , I seen the same sht said about Cassius Clay being a coward that runs , Clay turned out to have one of the greatest chins in boxing and their was no quit in him , how did we know that because Ali got old and had to weather the storm .

Floyd has never showed a weakness to bang on the inside and has never shown a weak chin .

Something about truly great fighters , when they must they hang real tough .

    2) Floyd ability to not get hit , its a valid argument to say there really is no greater defensive fighter in history .

Like I said they are both great fighters and the winner will be the one that turns up firing on 12 cylinders .

Mayweather is sooooo underrated in all these fantasy fights , he might lose but he could also win it .
#1 nobody ever said Floyd didn't have the balls to fight it out. But considering that Floyd at the same point career wise is struggling vs Maidana while Duran is giving Hagler fits, shows the difference in the level of the fighter.

Floyd past his prime, and near his ideal weight, has difficulty with a guy that isn't that hard to beat.

Duran past his prime, beasts SRL, and WAY past his prime takes Marvin Hagler to a SD.

Thats the thing. All of the things that PROVED how great Duran was, were the things he did AFTER his peak was past against ATG's still at the top of the game.

#2, defensively, Floyd is good, but he gave up the body always. You look at a fighter like Benitez vs Hearns, when Hearns was an offensive machine, you can see the difference in quality of a true defensive genius, and Floyd. Floyd is very good defensively, and offensively. He mixed them together well. To claim he would be be the best defensive fighter Duran had ever seen would be a stretch. Duran saw Benitez, and Benitez was not called "El Radar" for nothing. He saw everything coming...

He really was remarkable. Comfortable making incredible fighters miss by millimeters.

#3, James Toney is everything Floyd was talent wise, but fought everyone, and didn't dedicate himself. Floyds career would most likely paralleled that of Toney had he not managed himself so carefully. Toney is one of this era's greats. That is not disparaging to Floyd in any way.

This guy man lol. Duran was 29 when he faced Leonard the first time and 32 when he faced Hagler, which he lost. You're comparing a late 20's early 30s Duran to a late 30s Mayweather? By the time Duran was in his 30s he was getting stopped or struggling with the top guys he faced. Maidana is a tough fight for anyone who gets in the ring with him, win or lose. Because of his crude style people want to underrate him and its a shame.

2 names u better not forget: Robbie Sims and Kirkland Laing.

Styles and state of mind make fights, no fighter in the history of the sport ever had good nights every single fight especially at an advanced age.

          • Lol! ****ing Duran I wouldn't expect him to say anything less. Funny thing is Floyd loves Duran. Didn't he put Duran at #2 greatest all times just behind himself?

            1. Floyd Mayweather

            2. Roberto Duran

            3. Pernell Whitaker

            4. Julio Cesar Chavez

            5. Muhammad Ali

This would have been an epic fight at 135.
