He probably avoids a knockout shot and UD's everyone but Povetkin and Thompson. I don't see him being able to go into cruise control against guys like that, the way he did against Ruiz.

Outside of Povetkin these guys are rubbish. No discrediting, its just reality.
Ruiz is a far better HW than at least 5 of the above mentioned none of which have so much as beaten a top 10 fighter.

You question what Roy did at HW, what on earth have Mormeck, Pianeta, Leapai, Wach or Thompson done?
Tony Thompson being "rubbish"? No reality in that. Sorry. Guy started boxing when he was 27, twice kayo'd a huge prospect in his backyard, beat Solis, gave a decent fight to Pulev on like a month's notice, all in his forties, after getting two shots at the world title and with the first shot being one of Wlad's hardest fights in the last ten years. If that means he's "rubbish" I can't even tell you what I'd do to be that kind of rubbish or what hundreds of struggling heavyweight fighters would do to be either. Also, he did more against Wlad with his late start in boxing and in his late thirties than the only guy on that list you seem to respect in Povetkin. So, I don't know how you arrived at the idea that Thompson isn't a damn good fighter.

Come on, Roy embarrasses the lot.

The speed difference and talent difference more than makes up for the natural size. Roy was also cautious, he wouldn't be silly enough to stand and engage.

Povetkin would be a problem, I think Roy's capable of dancing around the rest. Have to wonder about him in the ring with someone as huge as Wach, that's the other fight he might lose. Thompson is way too old and slow.

          This thread isn't realistic.

Roy Jones vs Leapai is the only sensible fight we can really give Jones a good chance of winning, and it's only a 50/50 chance.

Leapai is crap, Roy would work him big time, he could do it for 12 rounds.

But Leapai only has to land just once and the chances he'd land several are very high.

Ruiz landed many shots on Jones, the MAIN reason Jones was successful against Ruiz was because Ruiz was not a puncher and was absolutely terrible boxer for a champ, the original hug fest, topped only in that department by WK and 70's Ali!

Against any of the others listed, he really doesn't stand any chances of success.

And before anybody brings up any rubbish like Huck vs Povetkin, Povetkin BEAT Huck, Huck is also a champion boxer, Huck is naturally larger than Jones and at time of bout with Povetkin was much heavier than Jones! Huck also has a good chin, Jones didn't!

Roy Jones was knocked out by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. Any HW he fights can potentially knock him out. He can decision those guys sure, but he might as well end up getting KTFO as they are all punchers, except Mormeck and Pianeta.

Hey V Addict, why don't you just go ahead and ask the obvious? Would he have beaten Vlad ten years ago?

                Povetkin would definitely be tough.

That's true Weltsch, Pianeta and Mormeck are not punchers at HW but compared to Ruiz they were, Mormeck had a fair whack at 217 and the skills/speed to land more on Jones than Ruiz did, he hit harder than Ruiz too and had better chin! And Pianeta at 240lbs has too much weight behind him and huge range over Jones. I don't think Jones could run around for 12 rounds against either against either of those and keep scoring.

Asking Jones to overcome a 6'8" 255lb steroid pumped acromegalic giant with decent skills, power and a perfect record sans WK like Wach is a bit rich too.

Roy was never in trouble in terms of being hurt until he dropped back down from HW, that took everything from him.

His chin was fine, his speed was insane, he had solid power and he was 100x more talented than any of those clowns listed.

How would that version of Roy do in this era of HWs?
