Nicolas Cage is now considered a joke among the film community. Ghost Rider 2 tanked and his last two films have been straight to video.
Chris Brown is still considered a star in the recording industry. He performed at the biggest music awards show and he's still winning awards.
It's all about the victim. He beat up Rihanna. She's considered pop's princess and the one of the sexiest women in the world. She also has a HUGE fan base. The picture of the beating and police report also put the cherry on top. On top of this, it felt he never felt remorse for doing the deed. All he did was give an apology and do community service. Then he had to destroy a room in ABC's office because Good Morning America asked him questions HE APPROVED OF. It's not because he's black.
