It is a quadcore processor, from Intel themselves.

i7 have different motherboard socket ..you can't use any quad core or any other intel proc other than i7...i7 motherboards have the only ddr3 RAM capability...i7 have 2 threads per core.....that's a big difference..[/QUOTE]
