  • Why did Mayweather pick Maidana/Berto over Khan?

Khan brings the most money at 147, after Mayweather and Pacquiao.

And, Khan obviously brings in way more money than Maidana and Berto combined.

So, why did Floyd Mayweather who is known to be a shrewd businessman and all about the money, pick lesser money options?

    It's a pretty simple choice, isn't it?

Fight a guy who brings a lot of money vs. Fight a guy who brings in less money than the other guy.

So, why would a fighter choose the less money option?

What money does Khan bring? I'm being serious, I think both Khan and Chavez Jr's popularity is grossly exaggerated. Nobody is really watching either one anymore cause they aren't even fighting

Who the hell got a career payday against Khan? Before the 1st Maidana fight Khan was the favorite to land the Floyd fight. And everyone Shi.tted on that fight on websites just like this one. NSB was the worst of them all.

It's a good question and I don't have the figures or stats but Khan has a HUGE Muslim fan base. He's a major star in British boxing.

Fact is that despite him having a pokey chin it's always been accepted that he's great box office. Also he's a hard night's work for anyone and has some solid pop. People forget that he had Peterson, Collazo, Zab and Maidana down and is fast. Also he is long armed and can jab. A slower, older Floyd with fragile hands wanted no part of him. A younger Floyd would have his usual way but the later version of Floyd would have fits and lose solidly on points.

Several reasons why Maidana got the nod over Khan. 1. Maidana just pulled off an upset win over Adrien Broner and won the WBA belt. So he was a champion. 2. Khans lack of a recent significant win.

Also to be honest, outside of boxing fans, not many know of Khan in the states. Ask any casual and at best might have heard the name but not know who he is.

Honestly no good reason why Berto got a Floyd fight other than Floyd wanted a soft touch for his final fight.

Khan brings nothing to the negotiations. He engages all of his bouts through the media in the form of who he wishes he could fight....

Because Berto is an easy fight, since Berto is a terrible fighter who never did anything in his whole career, except for get a gift decision against Collazo. That's his only half way decent win, and it was a gift.

Maidana, because he is an easy style for Floyd. Maidana can be outboxed and confused by good boxers, and has been. Maidana never did anything at welter other than beat a poor fighter in Broner. Floyd just did what he has done his whole career, cherry pick.

it makes sense. Khan is tougher, obviously. Would get more credit for fighting Khan. But does Floyd get the appropriate credit for that extra toughness? Khan matches up very well to Floyd, so its not surprising Floyd did not fight him.

Berto is a former World Champ with KO ability. Maidana is a tough out for anybody and he can end a fight with one punch. Khan has done nothing at WW and was getting pushed around by Algieri and couldn't keep him off of him. Maidana is more of a threat at 147 than Khan. We always hear Khan is a big star but when was the last time he sold out the MGM or Madison Square Garden? Do ya'll forget how the whole internet (I'm talking twitter, instgram, facebook, not just boxing sites) was making meme's of Broner when he lost? Because of Broner's popularity Maidana had become more known than Khan. I'm not even sure Khan has as big a following in Britain as people claim. And if he's so big in the Muslim world he can finally make Bob's dream come true by fighting Pacquiao in Dubai.
