He's been a hype job and will continue to be. Aggression is his saving grace but his striking is elementary, defense horrid. Bytch got beat by gatekeeper Nate Diaz and some nameless regional guys back in the day. The Irish warrior hype is not new to the UFC and the UFC manufactured him as a next big thing, just like pop musicians are made.

I've followed Alvarez for years and years and while he's fairly solid, he's never been great and he's REALLY shop-worn now. Not putting a lot of stake in him but he's still a good fighter with a lot of heart.

But almost no one question Silvas greatness. Questioning Connors greatness at this stage is still too early.

Whats wrong with that? Even SIlva returned to MW after fighting in LHW thinking that he wasnt as effective in heavier division.
What do you mean what's wrong with that? Nothing honorable about draining yourself to fight smaller men because you can't beat skilled guys your own size

Conor straight mercs 99.9% of guys from 145-155 and probably at least 75% at 170. The man is elite level a once in a generation champ like Bones, GSP and Silva.

No once in a generation fighter would lose to Nate Diaz in their prime.

Nah, we just look to the rematch where Connor arsed him twice, and beat him within a few inches of his life...

                    That's all - thanks!

Wot about Silva 3-4 losses "before eh was old" to guys that Led mentioned? LOL at least Diaz is a solid top-10 contender, and one of the best grapplers, and BJJ guys... His boxing also is pretty good.

MMA isn't like boxing - due to there being so many dimensions, and different ways to lose, the greatest fighters can always take L's.

Silva was sucking mad weight to make 185... It's what guys do - they fight at the lowest weight they can? Why wouldn't you want every advantage you could have? That's ******ed to think otherwise.

If you would have just left it at "Connor is hyped a lot," it'd be a respectable (yet played out) thread/theme, with a point well-taken...

But how you can pretend like he's not one of the best MMA fighters right now, pound for pound, is beyond me.
