A day after being called out for missing his mandatory 30-day safety weightcheck, reigning featherweight titlist Gary Russell Jr. has come correct. The 27-year old boxer from the greater Washington D.C. area is due to face Patrick Hyland on April 16 at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. With his World Boxing Council (WBC) title comes the responsibility of providing the sanctioning body weight checks both 30 days and 7 days prior to the contest.

Gee you really do hate Haymon. You could only wish his PBC platform will fail.

        Stay dreamin'.

Russel is such a waste of talent. He is letting his prime years melt away with all this inactivity and fringe contenders

no no no..i support haymon...go read my other comments..i just dont support this bum mf...made excuses when he lost...doesnt fight for a year...haymon takes care of his guys, but they dont do themselves any favors..outside of broner and wilder very few of them promote themselves unless they are tweeting for a day or 2....but you are nuts bro i love pbc and i hope they stay around for a long time, i just dont like the fact that these guys think they are accomplished bc haymon overpays them bc he's trying to build a brand...

but once again love haymon, just cant understand gys like russell, charlo's, selby's, pedraza, and andrade...gambo on that list as well..and the last 2 are not haymon guys...everybody wants rewards with no work..its nuts

Russell came in below the necessary 30-day cutoff but he was 2 days late on getting that information to the WBC.

However, who the hell is Patrick Hyland? Russell should be fighting top 10 opponents.

He doesn't exist. He's the boxing version of "John Doe". Instead of using TBA for Russell's opponents like the usually did, they just use the name Patrick Hyland these days.
