first time I ever heard of burley, cause nobody our ages would know someone like that. don't know the guy he's fighting either, but he's very flatfooted and the perfect foil for burley. could be some bum...

but the video was instructional and hopefully bscene poster learn something about boxing.

you can be slick and offensive at the same time. burley just showcased it.

today, you either have defensive or offensive specialists. they do one thing really good while ignoring other things. perfect case is pwill. great volume punching offense, but horrible defense.

too many kids on these forums think being a defensive slick african american boxer is the epitome, the apex, the elite of boxing. too much time watching Roy Jones Juniur and Wifebeater JR I guess. it simply isn't true. there was a time when african american boxers could box and brawl at the same time or was able to switch between offense and defense so well you couldn't tell the difference.

    I miss those days.

now a days its all about size, athleticism, gamesmanship, ppv buys, and other bull*****.

No it is not a fact that Burley is the greatest slickest fighter ever. That is an opinion not a fact.

And, yea SRR avoided Burley, after commentating in one of Burley fights. He said that he was "too pretty to fight Burley" or something that effect. Burley was just a hugh risk high reward type of fighter. And, SRR was a pain when it came to negotiations and was very diva-esque. But, Burley also understood that and made no bones about it. He said that if he was in SRR shoes he probably would do the same thing.

Burley did not deserve a fight with Robinson during Robinson's reign at Middleweight, he just didn't do enough at all, although Gainford is quoted as saying that he doesn't want Robinson in the ring with Burley and Robinson said he was "too pretty too fight him", I wouldn't say he ducked him as as he fought top ranked opposition that brought in more money, which is another one of the reasons the fight didn't pull through, Robinson wanted more of a reward for fighting a opponent as good as Burley but just couldn't get it.

Burley said that he would of done he same given the situation.
