Its the bridge, 175- Heavyweight is to big a jump. Cruiser can be a dead division but its a necessary one.

This is a thread that has been made a billion times on here, yes there are too many weight classes. It will never, ever go back to the way it was. End of argument.

I wouldn't say never. Under the current landscape it won't but boxing can and will go through more changes so the weight classes can certainly be revamped at some point. It takes a lot for that to happen but nothing stays the same forever.

Too much money in it, it's easier to promote the "WBC Jr. welterweight World champion" than the #5 contender in the welterweight division or the "8 weight world champion" to the general public.

Fighters purses would go down etc. If it does change it will not be for a long time.

Keep 140, remove CW. Who the hell cares about that division?

Definitely too many divisions & too many little divisions primarily. 1/3 of the divisions are for guys 122lbs or less. There should be 3 divisions cut out right there. 105, 112 & 118 should be good enough for that stretch & it'd probably greatly increase the interest & competition at those weights.

Yes there's too many divisions. Go back to the old days and the quality of fights will go up in a big way.
