  • Are the majority of people who get beat by police really innocent victims?

I was thinking about this, the majority of the cases you see when a Cop beats up a person is when the person acts HOSTILE, uncooperative, and resists arrest, usually acting brave and saying FUK you, spitting at a police or being difficult and trying to flee.

Why is it that media makes these people out to be innocent victims.

Here is an example, this guy who dies from getting beaten up by a gas station attendant, won a police brutality settlement in 2006, he was given $250,000 because he claimed the police wrongfully used excessive force on him and played victim in court. well he isn't such a nice guy, he was being confrontational and took the first swing at this gas station clerk, so he probably resisted arrest and was rude to the police. innocent victim my ass.

I would say it's hard to figure an exact percentage but I do feel cops have overstepped their bounds many times

Rodney king and the homeless women were uncalled for, that was excessive force IMO

The police have one job to fulfill when making an arrest, and that's to simply arrest the unlawful individual. Not to beat them up, not to harass, not to show authority, but simply just to arrest them. Officers have the right to use the necessary force to a combative individual, but they don't have to the right to beat people up. There's a huge difference between using force to detain someone, and straight brutality. And in most of these cases, the ladder is used.

Just because a criminal isn't innocent, doesn't mean the police have the right to beat him up. Yes, they might not be angels or stand up people but that doesn't excuse the police abusing their authority.

These people are meant to bring justice through the justice system, not through their own emotions because they were spit on or whatever. That's why it takes a very patient and measured individual to be a very good policeman, as they don't have it easy. If they don't meet this criteria then they shouldn't be on the force.

Id say probably 90% of the people who face brutality from the cops are arseholes and deserved it.
Most cops just want to do their shift and go home i come across many who have been straight up nice guys wanting and easy safe and sound shift.

They have a constant fear of their perceptions in the public and try and remain positive despite the negative reaction they receive. Truth is the only time your glad to see a cop is when you need one otherwise you hate their presence. So try and be abit more sensible in your thoughts these people have families to go home to aswell? Then you have that 10% who are bullys and thugs who eventually get caught and sacked sometimes even imprisonment.

          Simple.

The cops are the most corrupt, bullying, lying pieces of **** on the planet. They work for us but go out of their way to intimidate us. The whole system of police needs to be overhauled starting with cameras on every officer. Hopefully that will stop them from executing people like that poor guy in New York who they choked to death. It wasn't enough to get him on the ground surrounded by five cops, he had to finish the job.

            Great points Inkanyamba

What does that video have anything to do with his police brutality case which took place 2 months earlier, except nothing? Keep your nonsense in the NSB papa

Yes, the majority of people who get beat by the police in no way deserve to be beat by the police. They deserve to be arrested and to face the legal system.

Police Brutality is directly proportional to the level of their education, the more educated a police officer is, the less likely he is to engage in police brutality. we need to fire all police who have less than a college degree and give the remain police a raise.
