Many of the rappers from the 90's and back had a lot of character, it probably had a lot to do with their hard up bringing. That's my guess.

Perhaps many of the new generation of artists just don't have anything to sing about?

the lil wayne song isn't that bad, I've heard worse. However, the female verse is one of the worst verses I've ever heard. Chingy songs are the worst I've ever heard.
