I voted that he needed a break. You don't have to retire to avoid fighting certain fighters. You just don't fight them if you don't want to and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Look at Williams when he was in his prime and trying to get a fight with Floyd and other top welterweights and they just didn't fight him. Most fans think Matthysse is the #1 140 pounder in the world but the different 140 pound champs just won't fight him. So Floyd did not need to retire to avoid fighting anybody. He is the boss and can fight or not fight whoever he wants to.
