Big ups to Paulie he should keep commentating and fighting C level opposition to at least leave the sport a winner. Against these groomed prospects he will never get a nod.
wtf? is this the level of ******ation people have fallen to?

If it were a 12 round amatuer fight using amatuer scoring the fight would have been close! However, this was a "pro fight" were power and effective agrssiveness means more than light punches being landed! Its is amazing how many fans here don't know how to judge a pro fight!
Paulie landed clean shots but compared to Broner moving him back throughtout the fight because of his effective agrssiveness and Paulies willi9ngness to "give ground" because of Broner harder more powerfull punches seals the judging that Broner was more effective!!!
Broner was virtually unmarked and Paulie showed welts under both eyes and multiple hot spots (red body marks) on both his sides! A few times Paulie had to lift his back leg when Broners left hooks sunk in!!
I don't care and did NOT care who won, I was rooting for a 12 round quality fight but to say Paulie was robbed or he clearly out scored Broner is BS!
If you think he won by your obserbvations follow amatuer boxing because thats how its scored. A jab has the same effect as a well placed harder body shot!!!! Leave that at the amatuer game NOT in the pro judgeing!! Ray

Broner 8 Paulie 4 ...a pretty good fight fought by both men!!

this guys knows what's up, going into the fight i was hoping broner would lose because he just seems like too much of a clown to me

but another important factor is headshots, headshots in boxing, have always counted for more than bodyshots, unless you're throwing some noticebally effective bodyshots or aren't being touched back, headshots will win rounds and malignaggi is not only a weak puncher, but he clearly throws flailing arm punches to broner's body, that is basically just touching someone and shouldn't score for much, esspecially when the other guy is raking you with hooks/straights and uppercuts to the head

the only time you should go to "who landed/worked more" is when a round is fairly uneventful(like the early rd's where broner wasn't landing/throwing much, here paulie's workrate wins) or it's fairly even or the landed pittypats is just alot greater than the effective shots

Scoring aside, it's hilarious to see Broner mimic Floyd's "you can't hit me" head shake even when he's clearly getting hit (ex. check the slow motion replay on the Showtime airing after round 2).

He does have a point though. Fighters fight tooth and nail to get the fight in their backyard so that if it's close they'll get the nod from the judges.

It was close and it counted for nothing, the away fighter got a 117-111 from the NY judge.

Good point being made by the OP. It is indeed unfair that Paulie's punches were automatically reduced/discounted because of his lack of natural power. Unfortunately Paulie did himself the additional disservice of electing to fire almost exclusively to Broner's midsection. Doesn't Paulie know? Even professional judges, commentators, and members of the boxing media don't score body punches with the same emphasis they do headshots.

                  Ask Marvin Hagler.

they definitely dont, not unless it's on some angulo vs lara level

well, i say that but angulo lost most of the rounds because lara was the one landing the headshots, and despite the power difference, it shows the effective difference between headshots and bodyshots

Paulie did 2 things that really count against, he has no power and he targeted the body. We all know the judges give 1/4 the credit for body punches that they do for head shots
