These networks have alternative options that perform better and cost a fraction of the costs.

None of these networks need boxing and are only involved because PBC is paying them a boat load for the air time once that dynamic changes they will either not have boxing content because they will not pay the amount PBC needs or they will go with cheaper boxing content. Either producing their own boxing series and paying promoters/fighters per event like ESPN Friday Night Fights. Or pay Golden Boy, top rank, Main events to create their own monthly boxing series like Golden Boy Live had on FS1. Golden Boy live got the exact same ratings as PBC on FS1 does today but at a fraction of the cost and budget. So if you get the same results why overpay for PBC?
They're not as bad as you think they are. You also have to look at the sponsors. They've picked up a large amount of sponsors. That shows the networks that sponsors are willing to pay for boxing. That's all that matters. The NHL has similar ratings to PBC and they have a $200 mil deal. Sponsors are willing to pay more for a live sporting event than a TV/reality shows because most people watch sports live. I think boxing will find a network sponsor as well as esports. Esports is the next big thing. Their fans are loyal to sponsors just like NASCAR fans. Networks are looking for a cheaper alternative to the traditional big 4 sports.

Before Cotto or Camelot were featured on SHO, there was NEVER any million viewer cards on Showtime. Ward-Froch didn't even break 700k.

FNF used to average 350k viewers. 30 events per year... that's a glut.
now we have more than those 30 a year on fs1 who don't even break 200k viewers. All these PBC and showtime numbers keep trending down. Anyone think Beterbiev headling on ESPN's first fight of the year is going to do good numbers? Didn't think so
