Fighting on that undercard is more about the exposure than anything. They're not going to be able to get anyone incredible. Ward just needs to stay active.

It was after that, when Stevenson beat Dawson. Stevenson made a "I'll fight you in Oakland at 168 if I get a rematch at 175 in Canada" offer, if I remember correctly. Kind of like Froch/Bute.

if he fights on the cotto-canelo card it'll just be a tune-up (i'm kind of intrigued to see who they dredge up though). it sounds as if hbo are trying to commit him to a multi-fight contract, which presumably promises a kovalev showdown at the end of next year. i reckon his next proper opponent will be jean pascal

In June of 2013 Ward turned down Stevenson saying he didn't earn a shot at his title.

Instead Ward had a deal on the table with Dmitri Sartison to fight on September 2013.

you obviously have no clue about the deal. this was after stevenson ko'd dawson. that means he became the champ so he no longer was a prospect. it was a 2 fight proposed deal: one at 168 in oakland rematch in montreal at 175. ward balked and said no

Ward is waiting to see if Jermaine Taylor can be ready in time for the PPV undercard. He went straight from prison to training camp and they are waiting for news as to what weight he can make.
