The bones under Kazushi Sakuraba's eye were broken when he fought Mirko Cro Cop at the August 28th Shock Wave. Amid anticipation of his possible participation in PRIDE 23, Sakuraba underwent a reevaluation of his eye on the 25th of this month.
Speculation was swirling that Sakuraba might fight in PRIDE 23 along side Nobuhiko Takada and other fellow veterans of UWF-International. However, the results from Sakuraba's reevaluation were that his eye is not completely healed yet. When asked about the results, Takada Dojo responded; "If he's not completely healed, you can't expect him to fight."
There's nothing to be done but wait for his next results but the question still remains, will Sakuraba be healed in time to fight with the other members of UWF-International?
