styles make fights, anyone who knows anything about boxing knows hearns would kill floyd. even roger said hearns would beat his nephew, its just common sense.

floyd wouldnt be able to outbox hearns, hearns outboxed hill, SRL and benitez (with one hand). he was never outboxed, he was very fast and had a big height and reach advantage.

he would beat floyd on the outside and he would kill floyd if he tried fighting in the pocket rolling his shoulders. maywether would have no chance, keep in mind hearns had a good chin at 147. his punch resistance decreased as he took punishment and moved up in weight but at 147 and 154 he could take a good punch.

I just think ppl sometimes favor and overate older eras because they were years ago. Hearns had weaknesses that were exposed by Iran Barkley, Hagler and SRL.
Yes, those guys had certain qualities which gave Hearns trouble, and none of which Floyd possesses. Barkley: A monstrously large MW, who won titles at SMW, LHW and HW, albeit a minor one, who was pure brawler with a good chin, stamina and a massive punch.

Hagler: Good all round skills, hard punch, aggressive, granite chin, could box and brawl equally well and was a big, strong, natural MW.

Leonard: Huge WW (the same size as Margarito with more reach), insanely fast with hands and feet, skillful, highly determined, could box and brawl with anyone, incredible chin, stamina and a very strong puncher that was also very aggressive.

These guys did exploit weaknesses that Hearns, but they are weaknesses that Mayweather couldn't and wouldn't exploit. He doesn't have the punch to hurt Hearns, because while he was stopped in his losses, he did possess a very good chin in general and took shots very well. Leonard had enough stamina and power, along with the pressure he put on Hearns to beat him that way. Hagler simply pounded him like a madman after taking massive shots that few people in history would have taken. Barkley was on the verge of being knocked out when he landed a massive right hand right of the tip of the chin.

The size alone is too much for Maywather to get past. He would have to lunge in to land ti properly as Hearns fought at his true height and Maywather would not lunge in. Not only that, but he just doesn't punch hard enough to get Hearns out of there. Mayweather would have some success but Hearns is too smart to just walk and dismiss all his advantages. He would stay at his when boxing and flick that hard, long, quick jab of his out and MAyweather would struggle with it. Even if he slips it he's too far out to take advantage and if he tries what Leonard did, which was to simply walk through it, he leaves himself wide open for left hooks and massive right hands to land. Hearns takes one step back and he's out of range. Hearns is one guy that would outbox Mayweather.

Hearns wouldn't fight inside like Mosley, Oscar or whoever else was able to land with jabs. Mayweather took their jab away. Hearns' is faster, longer, much more powerful, and more sneaky than either of theirs. Well, Mosley's is **** overall really. Oscar had good success with the jab until Mayweather timed it and took it away. That wouldn't work with Hearns because unlike Oscar he wouldn't let Mayweather get inside nor would he willingly move into Mayweathers range. Bad fight for Floyd. Stylistically.
