Well technically he's American, his mothers Native American and his fathers Mexican/American! So he's only 1/4 Mexican! (He said himself he barely spoke Spanish before relocating to Oxnard!)

But back to the topic at hand, it really depends on what you're looking for, Rios is a slugger who relies on tenacity and non stop aggression (But can be a punching bag) like many B-Level Mexican fighters

GGG fights eerily similar to Julio Cesar Chavez Sr but you can certainly see the Russian Amateur boxing school in him, especially how he rotates his hands as he's punching (his thumbs are near parallel to the floor when he throws hooks and some straights) so it all depends on what you're looking for!

But as there have been very few elite Mexican boxers who fought like JCC you'd probably have to say Rios fights like the more typical "Mexican Style"

Rios, because he'll still punch with you in a slug fest while getting beat up.

GGG pauses, and hesitates in fire fights. He waits for your turn, then unloads.

Watch the Ouma fight for example. It doesn't have that feel of a Mexican style shoot out.

It's not that complicated really. Even if Rios is only 1/4 Mexican or "Mexican American"; however you put it...He's still Mexican, ggg isn't.

guess it depends on what u define of as mexican style the whole "mexican style" stuff from ggg was a promoting gimmick but mexicans have multiple styles u got the marquez's the chavez sr etc etc so many different mexican styles

My thoughts are you should start a lot fewer threads. Every time I come here you have at least 5 threads going at the same time. Your treads usually are stupid. You are clogging up the board with all these threads and not giving better posters a chance to start more intelligent threads. Be considerate and quit crowding up this board with useless threads. GGG and Rios both have a perfect style for their skills and abilities.
