  • Cuban Olympic Gold Medallist Robeisy Ramirez banned from International Events

Authorities ban Robeisy Ramirez from international boxing events

Jan 28, -- The Cuban Boxing Federation reported that Robeisy Ramirez will not attend international events for the next 6 months due to lack of proper preparation by repeated absences at training sessions.

The most recent analysis of the disciplinary committee of the National Boxing School revealed that Robeisy shows no optimum shape required to face the responsibility that he is assigned according to his rank.

He explained that the decision was necessary despite Robeisy being initially registered to the top of Friday against Hussars of Poland, as part of the 4th World Boxing Series at the Havana's Sports City, where the featherweight division will be then defended by Marcos Forestal.

However, the official note states that the Olympic champion will remain within the national team and have the chance to rectify his position and resume the role expected for the fans, always worthy of a behavior attached to the discipline and exemplary.

The other Cubans to the top on Friday are flyweight Yosbany Veitía, light welterweight Yasnier Toledo, medium Ramón Luis and cruise Erislandy Savón.

Cuba's Los Domadores team won their previous 6 matches, displaying 18 points and is favorite to be ratified as Group B qualifying leader against a weak Polish team that is in the basement with just 1 point.

Isn't this like the second time that Robeisy's had disagreements with the National boxing team? He may feel unmotivated... All of the Cuban posters on this board can probably figure out why...

It could be Robeisy's losing interest in the system, not boxing itself. He's still just a kid. I'm sure the powers-that-be are wary of any signs of change. They associate them with the desire to leave. But, really, who knows? You know you can't trust anything the Cuban authorities say.

Cuba will be fine without him. The island is a factory of boxers since the fabolous Castro took power. On the other hand, Robeisy isn't the best in the squad, Julio Cesar La Cruz is the enigma right now. That guy can defeat current top 175 like Pascal for example

one of my dream jobs is smuggling cuban talent to miami on a yacht. you get a percent of whatever the fighter earns in his career. that would be the perfect combination of money making, excitement, and badassedness.
