I can't say what happened. But if I had to guess the fat dude was one of those neighborhood watch losers that has a hero complex, tried to detain the kid, got dropped, and then shot the kid. That makes more sense to me than him attacking the kid and killing him for no reason or the kid jumping on him out of nowhere.
