  • Why Do You Think Pac Fought Clottey @ 147, But Made Cotto Fight At 145?

Why didn't he just fight Cotto @ full 147, instead of making Miguel get down to 145? But fight after fights Clottey at the full 147lb limt?

because before cotto they weren't even sure how he'd do at WW. it was a testing waters fight at WW.

they tested waters against cotto. yup. that's big balls in ur face. now stfu.

The reasoning will be 'Pacqiauo didn't know if he could fight at WW'

My response is by that logic wouldn't that make the Oscar fight unlegit as he apparently doesn't count as a WW? And if you don't think you can fight at a weight then simply don't fight there.

However, the catchweight didn't make a difference IMO and the win is still a legit as it would be without it.

He destroyed a "healthy" De La Hoya at WW. There goes your argument right there. They just wanted a slight advantage. They wanted Shane to go down to 142 aswell.

Because Clottey is featherfisted and he dont even punch back to begin with...Cotto punches back and he has decent power. And Arum chose the fight. He's a scumbag.

Cotto was just Manny's 2nd fight at that division. Yes he beat Oscar but he also went back down to 138 to fight Hatton in his next fight. Also, Manny was at 130, just a few fights before that fight. Lots of questions, lots of uncertainties.

Plus, there is always that question that was Manny's first win due to Manny's performance or Oscar's non-performance.

Finally, Manny's team saw that even with Oscar, Manny can't get up to 147. So that is why the 145. In retrospect, it should have been at 147.

From what I saw of the fight, even if Cotto had those extra 2lbs (only 1lb from his previous fight) it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Since that 2nd fight at 145, Manny has gone with Clottey and supposedly, Mosley at 147.
