  • Mac Miller, whats up with him stealing the "Mac" prefix..

Man it's as bad as if someone were to now proclaim themself as " Sugar" in boxing.

The rap prefix for "Mac" originated in the 1980s rap artist The MAC, aka Michael Robinson from Vallejo, California. The MAC was was killed around 1990 by mistaken identity.

Later generations of those young artists from Vallejo, California gave homage to their deceased brotha by using the name Mac in their name..

Mac Dre, Mac Mall, Mac Duna, the list goes.. although despite limited coverage of the hip hop scene in the Bay Area, it is mostly lost.

The name "Mac" came from the 1970s film, "The Mack." A film as well based in the Bay Area being filmed and set in Oakland.

    **** Mac Miller.
