Kieran Mulvaney: Floyd Mayweather is the best pound-for-pound boxer –
    Boxing news

Boxing analyst Kieran Mulvaney is expecting ESPN’s and The Ring’s pound-for-pound ratings to be changed soon, as he believes there are no doubts left now that Manny Pacquiao’s welterweight rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best fighter in the world.

“Right now, there's no real debate. Mayweather is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world,” Mulvaney said.

The eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Pacquiao, met Juan Manuel Marquez in their highly-anticipated trilogy bout last weekend on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Instead of winning in a convincing way, the Filipino star hardly managed to earn a controversial majority decision over the Mexican. Therefore, Mulvaney thinks Pacquiao is no longer on top of his game and Mayweather is the best in the world.

Pacquiao and Marquez previously had controversial endings to their fights. Thus, in their concluding fight, people wanted to see Pacquiao winning in a convincing way to clear all doubts but they were surprised when they saw the 38-year-old Marquez controlling the pace and being the aggressor.

Mayweather’s camp has hinted that they finally want to set up a super-fight with Pacquiao and Mulvaney thinks Pacquiao will not be able to pass a Mayweather test.

Mulvaney stated Pacquiao, who is currently rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, was a heavy favourite and he was expected to walk through his 6 years younger opponent but he was seen totally lost at certain points during the fight and so it is hard to believe if he can really beat Mayweather.

“In some ways, the biggest winner on Saturday night wasn't even in the building,” Mulvaney said, referring to the undefeated Mayweather. Seeing Pacquiao struggle and at times, look lost against a 38-year-old adversary whom many believed he would walk through, how many people still truly believe that Pacquiao would beat Mayweather?” he added.

The undefeated American legend Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, stands second to Pacquiao in the pound-for-pound rankings hence their fight is one of the most eagerly awaited fights in the sport because people want to see who the best pound-for-pound fighter between them is. Let’s see if a fight between these two is made.

Good thing Mayweather wins all his fantasy fights. This makes it so he never has to actually win the fights people want to see. Pathetic.

So Floyd is no1 based on not what he does but rather what pac didnt do last night?

Floyd is no1 in peoples eyes because he beat JMM better than Pac, but when Pac beats people better than floyd, and beats people floyd avoided people make excuses?

p4p isnt based on one fight on one night or day! Floyd since his comeback has beat a never fought at WW, piss drinking bloated fighter in JMM. Who has now learnt from that fight, stopped poisining himself with the piss and has acclimatised to the weight now.
So of course he was going to do better. JMM has seemed like he had eternity to prepare for this fight as well. Just like Floyd had eternity to prepare for JMM.

Ive learned that it doesnt matter who is ranked #1 as of now. If they never fight each other, how valid is that ranking? It means nothing until they fight and we truly see who #1 is.
