20 shows on NBC Sports, formerly the Versus network? As someone stated above, that is a niche network that has to be apart of a specific package of a service provider. I really don't see that channel gaining a large audience for boxing. Boxing is already a niche sport, putting it on a channel that gets lost in the multitude of other high quality premium channels sounds like a failure before launch. I would be really, really surprised to see any success out of this deal.
I wish Haymon the worst. I hope he fails horribly. He has foked this sport up badly. Fok him and his company. I won't tune in to ANY of those dates.
Holy crap now Haymons gonna close up shop because you don't tune in. Maybe, just maybe, what's fokking up boxing is fighters mowing down has beens and second rater, while screaming at the top of their lung they'll fight anyone near their weight class, the when world class opposition answers the call back pedal all to hell
You know this **** is bound to fail when Haymon has to pay NBC to be on TV. MLB/CBS/ESPN they pay the NFL and NBA to be on their stations. I'm just completely lost as to how he has to pay for NBC and the fighters. How does he make money? It'd be the network handling the advertising etc...
Well, whatever Haymon got kicked off HBO and is leaving the best position he could have been in running the show at Showtime.
I don't think Haymon's paying anything, he has suckered in investors to pay it on his behalf.
If it fails, he has Showtime as back-up thanks to Espinoza's presence.
What boxing needs is for Espinoza to get fired then Haymon will have no HBO and no Showtime or at least he will be in a vastly inferior bargaining position.
Duva lost her NBC connection, but she's working on getting that fight on HBO either under Kovalev/Pascal or Klitschko/Jennings (assuming it does get finalized).
Duva is basically Kovalev at this point, she really needs him to keep winning or she won't have much left.
