You could tell he's trying to take the Mayweather route and try to get himself hated probably not as much tho. He didn't seem/sound like that type of person in the post fight interview after he fought Winky.

I wouldn't say that's Haymon's doing. More like the WBC's or else Lara wouldn't be fighting on a Top Rank card who we know Haymon doesn't work with.

Dang that sucks... so he vacated and got injured and now he's belt-less. I wonder if the WBO will give him another chance

No. He was initially in talk with Geale to unify when Geale chose Sturm instead. He then went to unify with Golovkin but the WBO said they would strip him, Pirog got injured he never dropped the belt.

HNN-Bursak was for the Interm belt and they gave Pirog 120 days (early Sept) to unify. Pirog and HNN should be in talks to unify but instead he signs to fight Quillin and they strip Pirog before his mandatory date expires without any effort from HNN to unify with him. Very similar to what they did when giving HNN the interm belt in the first place.

I would have thought Pirog getting injured would have bought him some time... Isn't that whole purpose of the interim belt that N'jikan had? If the champion is injured, the mandatory gets the interim belt in the mean time.

Unless Dmitry Pirog got injured bad and will be out for a long time. It's strange that we haven't heard a single out of him or his camp when he's usually putting out statements on boxingscene every other day.

On the last rankings, it said Pirog would be champ until August 25th...

Weren't Pirog and ndam signed to fight in May until Pirog pulled out, only to schedule a fight with a different opponent just weeks after the ndam fight was to take place?

However it worked out, we ended up with some meaningful matchups, minus all the belt fiasco.

I'm sure Pirog will see himself against some of the winners of these fights...

Regarding the rankings when HNN-Bursak happened May 4th the WBO said Pirog had 120 day to fight the winner. That's Sept 4th.

As for your account of how HNN-Pirog fell apart, no...

A timeline of events to show how absurd the WBO is

                      - Pirog's mandatory is due June 25th

                      - Pirog and N'jikam in talks for a fight April 6th, nothing signed though, when Pirog injures his left shoulder.

                      - Pirog want to hold the fight May 1st instead, less than a month later and almost 2 months before his mandatory is due.

                      - N'jikam signs to fight Maksym Bursak

                      - WBO declares N'jikam-Bursak to be for the WBO interm belt.

*A Interm belt is usually awarded when a Champion is unable to fulfill their mandatory obligation due to injury. As mention above Pirog's May 1st fight proposal would have fulfilled that obligation two months early, why they're making this for an Interm belt is baffling aside from a obvious money grab having another "champion" paying them sanctioning fees.*

                      - WBO now declares that the winner will be Pirog's mandatory and that he must face them within 120 days which would be early September. How the proposed Geale Unification in August can take place now is looking more difficult.
HNN's excuse for backing out of the fight was that he had a venue and date for a fight to take place in Equatorial Guinea and couldn't wait around for Pirog yet Pirog fought HNN's replacement Ishida 3 days before HNN fought Bursak in France

So HNN avoided fighting Pirog and was given a interm belt. Now HNN signs to fight Quillin rather than fighting the Champion and they strip Pirog before the 120 limit they initially stated. The WBO has clearly been going out of its way to screw Pirog.
