They have flaws they are not huge flaws, that were worth the time he spent on them, now this is the exact opposite he is showing all kinds of love without looking at Top Ranks flaws.
Hence why I have no respect for him.

There are a lot of problems in boxing and HBO is part of the problem. The more people focus on this the better chance there is of things improving. If we ignore it nothing will ever change.

It's idiotic spending money on guys no one cares to watch, it's as easy as that. And they've been doing this for years, especially with Al Haymon fighters.
It is worth the time since no one else in the boxing world is exposing HBO's flaws. I'm glad someone is doing it.
Andre Berto was a guy HBO spent money building, they either had to kept going with that investment or cut loose, but keep in mind that investment in Berto lead to the Ortiz fight which in turn led to a big PPV so they kind of got a lot of that investment back no?
HBO does not have huge flaws they are a network that shows the fights they want to show, big deal the problem with boxing isn't that top end which HBO represents him spending all the time on that is a farce all done because Arum said so.

Can HBO do a better job sure, but in boxing things don't always work out as intended some times will be better than other. Jumping on someones head during a really dry run is not changing anything.
HBO is still the main force that built the two biggest stars, without HBO there is no Floyd or Manny so just brushing that shit off is not looking at the whole picture.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 10-10-2011, 03:02 PM.

Boxing is entertainment right? HBO want's high ratings for their boxing shows right? Then when they are investing millions of dollars in guys that produce low ratings, that's a flaw. A big one!

We'll have to agree to disagree with HBO. I think they are part of the problem. They make weak ass fights time and time again and invest in guys noboday cares about. If HBO was gone would the problems go away? No, but maybe it would be better I can't say for certain it wouldn't. Showtime would be huge. Boxers would be getting paid less money, thus ESPN would get bigger fights, same with showtime et al.

I don't know that much on him bvut when Floyd Mayweather Jnr said Debouf of Top Rank and his wife do a greta job and that he respects them, then you know they are doing something right.

Even if it turned out to be a good fight that doesn't warrant $1.3 million dollar paydays for each guy in their next fight plus all the fight fees etc. That $10 million or so dollars could have been invested to make other fights. For example bhop vs dawson, etc. Instead they are tapped out of cash and can't make certain fights, this is a reoccurring theme with HBO.
You don't see that as a problem? HBO investing/building guys like Berto? The very fact they thought so highly of Berto should throw up red flags....
It is a big deal when they are showing too many fights that the fans don't give a **** about, though and waste money on guys who either just aren't that good or aren't exciting. That's a problem, imo.

The problem there is no high end outside of HBO and to a lesser extent Showtime, but that is not the networks fault in fact Arum led that charge to premium cable so Hauser's boy is just reaping what he sowed, big deal but he never looks at that.
You don't cut open the goose that lays the golden eggs to figure out why it is laying golden eggs.
HBO is not a problem, you may not like what they do all the time but that doesn't make it a big problem.
I am entertained by fights on HBO, there is more to the sport than HBO though so one outlet's issues are to me minuscule
