Panchito el "F1" was captured a few days ago in Jalisco.
I have friends from Zacatecas. They say, about 7 years ago, southern Zacatecas was pretty bad, being taken over by the Zetas. Panchito's story goes, he was a Zeta operating in his native state of Zacatecas when he was ordered to kill a family, women, kids, everyone.
Panchito refused this order and in retaliation, the Zetas kidnap his family. Panchito then turns for help to the Zetas' rivals in Tamaulipas, the Gulf Cartel . They send him men and he's able to rescue his family and intense battles ensue all over southern Zacatecas.
One of the most famous battles occurred in Florencia, Zacatecas in 2011, where it's believe over 60 Zetas were killed. The media only reported 18-20 dead.
Then another battle occurred in Tabasco, Zacatecas. People there counted 30 Zeta bodies dumped into a torton truck. The media only reported 6 dead.
In Juchipila, Zacatecas, 70 gunmen arrived in 40 trucks labeled CDG (Cartel del Golfo) and over took the police headquarters. They were there for 5 hours and no cops on site. The army arrived after they had left.
They were just there to inform the people that they were their to protect them from the Zetas. They placed banners in nearby towns letting the people know of their presence and asking them not to fear no more. They were there to clean the area and the state from the Zetas.
Many more battles occurred all over Zacatecas. No one knows for sure but an estimate states that Zacatecas was 90% free of Zetas thanks to Panchito. South Zacatecas had been calm for the past 4 years. People thank Panchito for that.

Seriously though I was reading up more on this, and now there's some talk that the deaths were a result of straight up execution as opposed to a massive gun fight. Here recently there was an alleged gunfight between cartel members federal police -- and 22 cartel members were killed...and not a single federal officer. And in this instance, 42 of the 43 dead were all cartel dudes. So when you combine these 2 gun fights, there were 64 dead cartel dudes, and only 1 casualty of their own. Lol that's some pretty extraordinary success by their fed police.Comment
