          GPU: GeForce GTS 240
          CPU: Intel Core i5
          Memory: 4gb RAM
          Monitor: HP w2207h

Hoping to upgrade my RAM and GPU soon but my current rig plays the majority of game on high settings without any significant drops in fps.

That's all you need. Just get whatever you feel is in your best interest, not based on a lot of other PC'ers out there with the "newer & more expensive is better doe" mentality.

All my PC gaming is old school. I'm too lazy to put forth the effort necessary for newer games. Although my PC is weird, it can play Diablo 3 and Portal 2 fine, but Mass Effect is just a big blue blur on the screen.

Long as the games play well, it's all good. I never understood the whole "if it ain't max settings, it sucks doe" mentality of the pc gaming world. While it looks nice if you have the right components, it isn't necessary to have max settings to enjoy the game the way you or somebody else wants to.
