Both things are hurting the sport, for bad callings maybe the replays might help and mediocre judges (like Doug Tucker) shouldn't be allowed to score a fight again. But we still have problems with biased or/and incompetent referees.

Last weekend, we saw an obviously crooked home referee Jack Reiss smirking as he let Andre Ward get away with numerous fouls, especially the deliberate headbutts intended to cut Mikkel Kessler. Reiss was even going over to Kessler's corner between rounds for no reason other than to intimidate him and add to his frustration.

Last summer, we had a ridiculously incompetent UK judge Paul Thomas score Dimitrenko-Chambers as a draw. Then, we saw Paulie Malignaggi robbed in Houston. Personally, I can't stand Paulie, but I hated to see such an obvious injustice because it's degrading to the sport of boxing. Crooked Texas officiating had previously robbed Chris John of a deserved win.

There's been crooked and/or incompetent officiating nearly every weekend this year. For example a few months ago I saw Wlodarczyk being harrassed by a crooked referee and robbed on the scorecards against Fragomeni, and I saw a home referee in the UK helping Sexton in his first fight with Rogan.

This garbage needs to be cleaned up, it's ruining our sport!
It's a serious problem which ruins the experience.

The problem with that is the sanctioning organizations. They always think they are right.
How many times has Jose Sulaiman stepped in and biasedly demanded a rematch.

It has to be independent, but I doubt the orgs will go for it.

As long as there are humans with families to feed there will always be payoffs. I'm becoming more suspicious of Golden Boy every day. They are becoming another Don King IMO. It seems their fighters are being treated very generously by officials. Those officials are also self maintained so an investigation is worthless. Nobody oversees them.
Your suspicion of GBP is warranted. You're not alone.

I, for one, am tired of this crap. The judges get paid to judge and there is no way they are seeing the fights the way they are scoring them, so they must be getting paid by someone. It's always the guys that the networks are behind and wish to promote so they can cash in on them. Diaz, heavily backed by HBO
                Cintron, heavily backed by HBO
                Guzman, heavily backed by HBO
Cotto, heavily backed by HBO (Clottey fight)
                JuanMa, heavily backed by HBO
Froch, heavily supported by Showtime (beltholder)
Ward, heavily supported by Showtime (star in the making)

These guys will get favors from the refs and judges in close fights and against foreign opposition, it will be blatant.

Judges need to be evaluated based on their track records of scoring fights. The judges that have a proven performance of scoring fights fairly will be selected over the judges that have a poor record of scoring fights. This approach makes a lot of sense but politics in boxing is so widespread that competent and fair judges are not always selected..

Yeah, of course. It is the same everywhere, an American will get shafted in a close fight in Germany or in England, or anywhere just like an African guy will get shafted in a somewhat close fight in America. I'm just saying that the blatantness of the corruption will be greater when it is a foreign guy fighting a "brand name" boxer here in America more so than two "brand name" guys who are both American. Last night was a good example, Guzman is not American but he is a guy that the networks have adopted as a staple product that they want to market and cash in on. Funeka was a foreign boxer fighting on another boxers turf so to speak, so they could careless what the public thinks- they tried to rob him of a victory in a completely lopsided affair.

It might not have happened had Guzman been fighting another big name guy that HBO was behind of GBP was behind.
