  • would tyson holmes have had

A different result if Holmes had more notice.

A very gracious Tyson said if they would have fought when Larry was younger the result may have been different. Larry went on at a advanced age to go the distance with Evander and beat some fairly good fighters.

If he was in his prime, Larry would UD him.

Larry was 38yrs old, hadn't fought or even trained in 2 years and was only given a few weeks to prepare for the fight. If Holmes had more time to prepare it would have been more competitive, he still would have lost though. A prime Holmes would have beaten Tyson. Tyson in the post fight interview even admitted that he wouldn't have stood a chance against prime Holmes.

I can't see Holmes stopping Tyson's onslaught from that point even if he had been at the absolute peak of his abilites at that particular age. He was too slow to not get hit by those incoming, extremely fast power punches. What's worse for him was that this was the polished Tyson who was regularly throwing combinations and went to the body often. MAYBE Holmes could've went the distance with 1990 1 punch KO seeking Mike, but I doubt that one as well.

Tyson admired the old greats, he probably would've said the same thing about any of the ATG heavyweights.

Holmes definitely would have given a stronger performance under better circumstances. But no way was he ever going to beat Mike Tyson at that point in their careers.

Pay no attention to a young lion making hyperbolic praise of the old champ he just vanquished.

We know the kind of fighter who could give Tyson trouble, and Larry Holmes would be in that class. If he does not beat Tyson he will make it difficult and deal out a lot of punishment himself.

Holmes may have stretched the fight longer, but he was always going to get KOd at some point..Tyson was the hardest punching heavyweight ever.

More time to prepare would of made it a lot more of a competitive match-up .Tyson still wins but I think it would of been a really good fight and Tyson could well of found it to be his hardest fight until the Holyfield contests . Prime for prime I'd go for Holmes by late stoppage
